Not your average looking desktop
Whenever Intel launches a new processor line, system builders come out of the woodwork to announce new PCs that use the newest hardware. Skylake is no exception, and with it comes a new Predator gaming desktop from Acer.
Like previous Predator desktops, the Predator G6-710 with Skylake inside sports a wild aesthetic that gamers will either love or loathe. Either way, it's certainly eye-catching, and not something you're likely to run into in a lawyer's office or other professional settings.
Inside the Predator G6-710 is an Intel Core i7-6700K processor paired with up to 64GB of DDR4 dual-channel memory. It also sports an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics card, up to 12TB of storage, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 with Environmental Audio Extensions (EAX) 5.0 and 5.1 channel audio support.
Acer's marketing hype is as loud as the machine's physical design. Wait, did we say "machine?" We meant "unstoppable fighting machine," to use Acer's own words. The company also said the Predator G6-710 is the first in a series of unveilings of its "game changing" Predator products during Gamescom, which is taking place right at this very moment.
"We are thrilled to unveil our new Predator gaming machine for hardcore gamers that’s as enthralling on the exterior with its belligerent armour design as it is on the inside," said Andrew Hou, general manager, Stationary Computing Business Unit, Acer. "It combines the bleeding edge technology gamers need to perform at their best. And with performance to spare, they can rest assured their investment will last for many, many gaming sessions."
Acer says the Predator G6-710 will ship first in Europe in mid-September starting at €1,999 (around $2,180 in U.S. currency), then make its way to North America in October.
