Always check your plane for cats before takeoff

Cat Plane

Here's something you're not likely to see on any PC flight simulation -- a cat wandering the wing of a plane in mid-flight, much to the surprise of the pilot. A gremlin, maybe, but a cat? Don't worry, it doesn't end badly for the lucky feline, which manages to stay remarkably calm throughout the ordeal.

Pilot Romain Jantot claims he performed a pre-flight check but doesn't know if the cat made its way inside the ultralight glider's wing after he was finished or he simply failed to spot the furry companion. Either way, he's visibly surprised to discover the feline stowaway mid-flight.

From takeoff to landing, the flight lasts nearly 3 minutes, or what must seem like an eternity if you're clinging to dear life on the wing of a plane. Lucky for the cat, it's actually inside the wing rather than sitting on top, otherwise there's very little chance it would have been able to hang on until the plane lands safely on the ground.

This was all captured on video and uploaded to YouTube three days ago. In that time, it's amassed over 12.4 million video views. Is it a fake? Arizona pilot Stephen Bass told The Huffington Post he believes it's real.

"There's fabric on the top and the bottom of the wing and space in between. You see it crawling out from the center of the wing, where it was protected. I think it's real," Bass said.

Once again, cats rule the Internet. Have a look for yourself:
