The Samsung Galaxy S6 is a highly anticipated handset, and in the run-up to its launch we've seen an influx of rumours about the upcoming flagship smartphone.
Although some of these rumours are more plausible than others, the internet has been a veritable playground of gossip about what the S6 has in store. Samsung, perhaps enjoying all of this speculation, has just launched a website called Is This The Next?, which gathers together various rumours about the Galaxy S6.
What's intriguing is that Samsung lists these rumours yet doesn't comment on them, leaving us to wonder if it is highlighting the most outlandish guesses or ones closer to the truth. After scrolling through the rumours a timer is displayed counting down the time until Samsung's Unpacked Event, which is set to happen later this week, just before MWC 2015.
Those rumours in depth
The first rumour Samsung highlights on its website is "one feature that we might see is forward-facing stereo speakers". Although front-facing speakers would mark a change in design for the Galaxy S6 this isn't the most outlandish rumour we've heard. Will Samsung be following in HTC's footsteps?
The plural "speakers" at least gives us hope that Samsung will include stereo speakers, rather than the single speaker found on the Galaxy S5.
The next rumour states "the new Galaxy is expected to be durable". Again, nothing too far out here. With many rumours suggesting the Galaxy S6 will have a metal body, we'd expect the S6 to be rugged enough to survive the odd knock and drop.
It would also be a bit odd for Samsung to highlight this rumour if it knew that in reality its latest most expensive phone would actually shatter into a million pieces if dropped.
However, things start to get a little more interesting with rumour three, which states that "Samsung Galaxy display is supposed to reach onto 3 sides". Recent teaser images of the Samsung Galaxy S6 have shown the side of what is assumed to be the S6 with the screen curving over left hand edge, much like with the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
So it looks like the Galaxy S6's screen covers at least two sides, but as we can't see the right hand side we're not sure if the screen reaches that as well.
Mobile carrier AT&T also displayed the image, however within the source code of its web page someone found references to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
So if the next Samsung Galaxy does come with a three edged screen, does this mean the next Galaxy will be the S6 Edge? Or perhaps the S6 and the S6 Edge are one and the same?
The final rumour states that "it has been rumoured that the new Galaxy will feature a larger display". This isn't too far outside of the realms of possibility, and we've heard that the Galaxy S6's screen could be as large as 5.5 inches.
Again it would seem weird for Samsung to highlight this rumour if it is later revealed that the screen is the same size, or even smaller, than the Galaxy S5's.
So what does this all mean? Is Samsung confirming these rumours or laughing at how far off the mark they are? Or perhaps a mixture of the two? What's clear is that Samsung seems to be enjoying all of the speculation and hype over the Galaxy S6 and this confidence gives us hope that we'll see a very impressive handset get unpacked in only a few short days.
