We'll be holding the HTC One M9 in our hands this time next week when the it launches at MWC 2015. Until then, we'll settle for this unofficial, but unmissable leak.
Ahead of the Android phone's March 1 unveiling, we're hearing it'll look a lot like the HTC One M8 but with a specs upgrade, according to Mobile Geeks citing two chatty German retailers.
HTC One M9 is said to be powered by an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with a clock speed of 2.0 Ghz, much like the LG G Flex 2 we just reviewed.
It's also been tipped to have 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and support microSD cards, up to 128GB. As this is sourced from store listings, a 16GB model or other variants aren't out of the question.
Camera specs
Besides the super-fast CPU, the most interesting detail in this report pins the rear camera at 20-megapixels with optical image stabilization, backing up recent rumors.
HTC One M9 may still be able to capture shots with "ultrapixels" that have previously been a part of the rear camera. The 4-megapixel snapper is said to have been moved up front.
The trade-off to having a 20-megapixel camera on back is that the module is said to protrude from the camera's housing, sort of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Design alterations
The premium look and feel of the new HTC One look to be intact, matched by color options of a classy gold with silver and an almost-black gunmetal grey, according to leaked photos.
It's said to be slightly thicker at 9.61 mm, but on the upside fit a larger 2900mAh battery. Expect a 5-inch display that once again has a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
In addition to Android 5.0 Lollipop, HTC One M9 is said receiving the first upgrade to the company's Sense 7.0 UI.
