<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div xmlns='http://bit.ly/16Db7GR'><img alt="13-inch Retina MacBook Pro owners complain of lag and battery issues" src="http://ift.tt/1BGyw4l"/><br/><br /><p>Some owners of Apple's 2015 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro have reported unusual activity bogging down the machine - including unusual levels of cursor lag and poor battery life.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Reported by <a href="http://ift.tt/1DUcA99" rel="nofollow">MacRumours</a>, the juddering seems to affect OS X Yosemite's animations - such as opening Mission Control or Launchpad, resizing windows and launching full-size apps. Other users have reported battery life of five-to-six hours, which falls well below the advertised "up to" 10 hours.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>Posted in two seperate threads on the Apple news website's forum that have racked up more than 200 replies between them, the MacBook's integrated Intel Iris 6000-series graphics have been held up as a potential culprit.</p><br /><br/><br /><p>However, some users have reported succesfully fixing the issue by doing anything from PRAM<br/><br /><br/><br />reset to reducing Yosemite's transparency effects. The '56' refers to the focal length – a fraction short in classic terms for a portrait lens on a full frame camera, maybe but ideal for smaller-sensor APS-C DSLRs or mirrorless compact system cameras, where the effective focal length will be 84mm.</p><br /><br/><br /><p><img alt="Lensbaby Velvet 56 is shown attached to a Canon 6D here, but it will also comes in Nikon, Pentax and Sony A mounts, with mirrorless compact system camera versions to follow." src="http://ift.tt/1CQlIcY" title="The Velvet 56 is seen here on te " width="420"/> </p><br /><br/><br /><p>The Velvet 56 gets its name from the results it produces. Lensbaby has used a unique optical design to produce, in its own words, a 'velvety, glowing, ethereal look wide open' but overlaid on 'tack-sharp' detail. The press releases suggests that the softest results are achieved at the lens's f/1.6 maximum aperture and stopping down the lens increases the appearance of sharpness, giving you control over the softening effect.</p><br /><br/><br /><h3>Come closer…</h3><br /><br/><br /><p>The Velvet 56 has another trick – it can also be used as a macro lens, with a minimum focus distance of approximately 13cm (5 inches).
